Kahvi #154: saul stokes / floor to flood

kahvi is extremely happy to once again welcome guest artists saul stokes. a single track - floor to flood - which is similar in style to mantarey yet equally listenable and enjoyable. the sounds from sauls own made synths make a comeback, tricky textures are created through rasping and sweeping pads. subtle percussion deftly supplementing the track with just the right expression. visit saulstokes.com to buy his work as digital downloads or his cds. well worth a listen!

Kahvi #153: walka / napsuu

giving the label a more textured mood, walka - another guest artist hailing from finland - brings more electronic chill with a slight techno sub theme intermixed. ranging from the repetative but addictive tekora to the sublimely chilled syy napsuu 2. enjoy!

Kahvi #152: din stalker / gaffa saved my life

creating a curious blend of weird and wonderful sounds and textures intermixed with powered beats and melodies, din stalker returns to kahvi. after appearing on the compilation earlier I asked stalker to create an ep and this is the result. in amongst the fun yet craziness of the tracks, there is the underlying addictiveness associated with the bizarre. a release not for all tastes but give it a try, you might like it!

Kahvi #151: zilent zpott / zilence ep

if you're a frequent listener to the chillout channel on di.fm, zilent zpott will come as a particularly recognisable name. hailing from german, zilent spott blends what appears to be overly commercial sounds in a familiar context. the quality of the production is second to none and the tracks are using quality sounds and textures throughout. ranging from cool chill to more dance oriented styles, this release has something for everybody.

Kahvi #150: scann-tec / transient vision

after releasing a couple of remixes on kahvi, I was impressed by the quality of moscow based scann-tec's works.. enough so to ask him to supply a complete ep for your listening please, the results of which are now here. flawless production and with a style of incidental music for film, scann-tec tells a story in each of his tracks featured here. a slowly evolving piece filled with ambience, details and qualities designed to make you think carefully. enjoy kahvi release #150 by scann-tec.

Kahvi #149: slem / lampjuice ep

ah. slem is back! the second in his two ep blitz, lampjuice is certainly the darker of the two. perhaps (in my opinion) the stronger sounding, harder and more defined of the two (my personal favorite also), the tracks are epic on their own, each produced to perfection and progressively entrancing like the last. the tracks range from mellow to slightly distorted but their production is flawless - download and listen... and listen again.

Kahvi #148: mint / milk and three ep

its back - back to the oldskool - with this small ep from uk artist mint. a severe retro embelishment of audio arrives in the form of milk and three ep - its got it all, ancient pads and drones, chilled out analogue and the last track - bright lights, bright ideas - sounds amazingly similar to a certain uk techno act from years gone by (orbital for those who dont know). nice vibes abound, interesting sounds provide - so go ahead, listen and enjoy.

Kahvi #147: sektor / embrion's dream

another artist frequently appearing on kahvi these days is sektor interesting to see how his style is changing and improving over the past few releases. embrion's dream takes the analogue and slightly retro style of his earlier releases and improves it, more of that 'kahvi sound' with chilled pads, idm style leads and sentimental vibes. a thoroughly enjoyable ep, easy to listen to and cool for the approaching summer.

kahvi #146: migloJE / migloJE EP

somewhat of a rarity, a lithuanian artist appears on kahvi. very different style, from the Autectre eseque sounding track names to the glitchy yet strangely smooth production. the kind of music to send a shiver down your spine yet is also easy to listen to. a very nice ep, smooth flowing and interesting in its textures. welcome to kahvi, migloJE.

kahvi is extremely happy to welcome mikael fyrek acclaimed ambient artist to its shores. a familiar name to those of you who listen to di.fm chill channel, mikael agreed to release an exclusive four track ep on kahvi. each track is an entity unto itself, lovely sounds, flowing moods and cheerful vibes ranging from the ambient 'goodnight nobody' to the `music box` style 'bathing in a river'. an extremely enjoyable and emminently listenable ep, every track strong in its definition.

kahvi #144: slem / entangle ep

one of my favorite artists on kahvi, slem, returns with the first ep of a double release. entangle features all the quirks, gimmicks and coolness that we`re used to hearing from slem. nice quality audio, good production and originality all are the key to a good ep and this is certainly a good example of this; every track its own mini epic. great stuff!

kahvi video release #004: aether by mfx

a quality soundtrack perfectly complimented by stunning visual effects. created by a group of talented individuals (based in finland) working under the name `mfx`. aether is being featured on kahvi due to its synchronised audio and video as shown in previous video releases, but the quality goes one step further. interesting abstract images with a hint of serious message underlying, the video simply transfixes you while the track enhances the images and draws you in. a video not only to be watched but to be experienced.

kahvi #142: ultrasonic by stuart elliott

another uk artist comes to kahvi stuart elliott, a familiar name in ambient circles in the uk, gives us a huge eight track ep. musical styles featured range from dark ambient to more elektro beat, a spin of eclectic vibes from different ages. with a playing time of over 45 mins, this ep will take you on a trip across the cosmos and back again. nice quality, nice sounds what else could you ask for? listen and enjoy!

kahvi video release #003: asdf by el bee and mf

keeping up with the mood of previous kahvi video releases, this short video concentrates on pin point synchronisation of visuals to audio. simple in its styling yet interesting in its execution. created by el bee and mf, the guys behind warm (warm ep, kahvi#104), the excellent soundtrack is purely complimented by the visuals.

kahvi #141: delusion by dreamers universe

a rare thing indeed to kahvi. an ep that includes a couple of tracks with vocals! breaking my own rule of not releasing vocals (too many tracks in the 90`s were ruined by some bimbo adding useless and talentless vocals to tracks) I decided to release this one. the title track 'delusion' has a very depeche mode air about it, but I might even hesistate to add that this singer is better ;) enjoy this release from dreamers universe.

marking release #140 with something just a little bit special we welcome alexander chereshnev to the stage. an unknown entity sometimes surprises, and this is certainly the case with these tracks. excellent production and content, surprising sounds and textures. two extremely listenable and fitting tracks to add to the kahvi collective.

kahvi archive #001: releases 19 to 060

archive #001 kahvi releases 19 to 060 Ah, they were the days. Back in the time of XM, when mp3`s were a rarity. Here you can find 550 megs worth of the very earliest Kahvi releases up to release #60. Some real gems in here, something for posterity ;) This is designed to be distributed via P2P, so feel free to seed this in your P2P system of choice. Included in this archive are releases 19 to 0. These are `antique` XM modules that were released at the very start of the label by various crazy people... Some form of `module` player is needed for them. Also, theres the first mp3 that Kahvi released composed by.... me, funnily enough. Enjoy this blast from the past.
